Lead Game Designer || UX Designer
Resonance:
Alto and the Kingdom of Music
Designing a fresh, stylized rhythm game
as the Lead Game Designer
From the fall of 2019, I worked on Resonance as the lead game designer and UX designer, working with a fantastic team of programmers and artists to create Resonance; a 2D sidescroller combining with elements we love from our favourite music games.

Resonance's game play revolves around Alto being able to create Note Platforms, similar to notes on a score sheet, and jumping on them, which helps him to bounce higher to reach and destroy discord with his magic baton.
Resonance tells the tale of Alto, a small music guardian seeking to jump into music scores to get rid of enemies known as "The Discord" while saving his music siblings who have been trapped inside them.

What I worked on
Game Design + UX
I worked as the overall lead game designer, overseeing all aspects of the game design. Including:
-
Writing, gameplay design and level design
-
Creating the game's initial prototype in Unity before exporting all progress into a custom engine
-
Working together with programmers to iterate gameplay mechanics, as well debug and test the game's custom engine and editor.
-
Working together with artists to design and iterate art assets to align with the game's overall theme and aesthetics.
-
Designed and polished the game in terms of UX, including overlooking the use of VFX and SFX to further enhance the overall user experience
Production + Playtesting
In addition to being the lead game designer of the team, I also oversaw a lot of aspects of the production, doing tasks, including:
-
Being the lead SCRUM master of the team, and enforcing SCRUM for smoother project management
-
Keeping track of everyone's progress, which also includes using tools such as Trello to help keep track of the development's overall progress
-
Being in charge of playtesting, observing playtester reactions to the game, and helping to create surveys to ensure the game received appropriate feedback for further improvement
